Final Score: Hitchin 20 - 1 Oxford Hitchin were eager for a match after last week's cancellation by Bath and were looking forward to this week's match against an Oxford side weakened by the loss of several key players. During the first quarter, Hitchin scored 8 goals without reply. During the second quarter Hitchin managed to extend their lead to 12 with some excellent drive and dump moves. Travis Robb leading the way with 5 goals in the first half. After half time, Hitchin experienced their usual '3rd quarter slump' and were a little sloppy allowing oxford to score their only goal of the game with a feed to the crease which was put away well by the Oxford attack man. Despite this Hitchin still managed to score 6 goals making the 3/4 score Hitchin 18 - 1 Oxford. In the final quarter, Hitchin regained their dominance seen in the first half. They scored 2 goals without reply and the game finished Hitchin 20 - 1 Oxford. Hitchin were sucessful in keeping the ball away from the defensive end of field for the majority of the final quarter. Thanks go to Hazel for refereeing her first premiership game and to Oxford who never gave up. Oxford were missing several key players and should be much stronger when Hitchin play them in the return fixture. The 'A' team also managed a win over East Grinstead 'A' which leaves both Mens teams sitting at the top of their respective leagues. Photos |
