Final Score: Hitchin 12 - 6 Purley Both teams were fired up for the top of the table clash between Hitchin and Purley and it was great to see 2 league referees available. Hitchin drew first blood with a well worked goal and although Purley equalised, Hitchin was able to win the first low-scoring quarter 2 - 1 After the break, the teams continued to trade goals and neither side was able to gain a significant advantage. Half-time score was 5 - 4 and we were setup for an exciting second half. In the second half, Hitchin managed to prevent their 3rd-quarter slump and managed to extend their lead to 7 - 5 at 3/4 time. In the last quarter, Hitchin's continued pressure meant that they controlled the ball for long periods, often coming away with a goal. Purley were left with no choice but to pressure the ball, resulting in a few penalties. The main difference between the sides were the man-up plays. Hitchin managing to convert a large percentage of theirs whilst Purley's man-up only managed to score a couple of times. Hitchin came away with a well deserved win. Final score: 12 - 6 |
