Final Score: Hitchin 9 - 11 Hampstead

After a week off due to an unplayable pitch at Reading, Hitchin faced Hampstead again in the Senior flags semi-final. Hitchin were confident after easily beating Hampstead two weeks ago although the team was quite different and Hampstead had brought their strongest team with them. Hitchin started well, controlling posession for the first few minutes and then scoring the first goal. Hampstead then recovered and scored a quick reply. They continued to dominate until quarter time, scoring 2 more goals, going into the break with the scores at 1 - 3 to Hampstead.

After the break, Hampstead continued their dominance and scored several quick goals. Hitchin called a timeout and tried to regroup. The timeout worked and Hitchin managed to halt Hampstead's goals and even pull one back. At half time, the score was 2 - 7 to Hampstead.

Hitchin started well at the beginning of the third quarter and managed to close the gap on Hampstead. Hitchin managed to get the score back to 5 - 7 before Hampstead scored again. The score at 3/4 time was 5 - 8.

Hitchin again came back at Hampstead during the final quarter. The score was 8 - 9 at one point, and then Hampstead scored. Hitchin scored again to bring them back within 1 with a few minutes to go. Desperate for a goal, Hitchin had to pressure Hamsptead. Unfortunately for Hitchin, their pressure left them exposed at the back and Hampstead scored another goal at the death. Final score: 9 - 11.

Thanks to Sharky Mark, Hazel and Ray for refereeing. Quotes of the day: 'Well, at least you're not going to be busy on St Paddy's day' - A Hampstead player as we were walking of the field. 'I feel sorry for Oxford next week' - Another Hampstead player, overheard in The Cricketers.
