Final Score: Hitchin 16 - 4 Walcountian Blues Hitchin started the game excellently, winning the first face and then a quick drive, cut, feed and shot resulted in a goal. The Blues then proceeded to gather the ball from the next face and possess the ball for the next 5 minutes. A goal resulted from the possession and the scores were level at 1 - 1. Hitchin then began to up the pressure and managed to score 4 more goals before quarter time. Hitchin continued to score goals in the second quarter and their defence was able to shut out the Blues' scoring threats. At half-time, the score was 8 - 1 to Hitchin. Both teams had only 11 players and looked tired during the half-time break and Several of the Blues were lying on the ground. Hitchin continued the third quarter with more of the same and it ended 12 - 1 to Hitchin. In the final quarter, the play opened up and both teams began to score more freely. Final score 16 - 4 to Hitchin. The game was played in an exceptionally friendly manner, the only penalties being offside and crease violations. Both teams were willing to concede possession when the referee was unable to see which way to call. Thanks to 'The Claires' for CBOing and keeping score. Despite the friendly nature of the match, there was a nasty moment after the game was finished. Several of the Blues said that they wouldn't be coming for a post-match drink. An excuse such as 'We have to go and look at a new car' is unacceptable and after gentle persuasion all of the Blues came for drinks and food.
