Final Score: Hillcroft 4 - 16 Hitchin Hitchin's first game of the 06/07 season began with an away match at last season's runners-up, Hillcroft. Hitchin had managed to pick up a few new players over the summer including their new LDOs and an American student, but were without regular attackman Jonny Harry. Hillcroft seem to have lost a couple of their best players, but had plenty of subs on the bench. The match was delayed due to the late arrival of the referees and we eventually started at 2.45pm. Hitchin started well in the first quarter and controlled the game, leading 0 - 4 at quarter time. During the second quarter, Hillcroft had a much better time, scoring 3 quick-fire goals in a short period, although Hitchin rallied to keep the score ticking over. At half time, the score was 3 - 8 to Hitchin. After the half, Hitchin were in control again and managed to lock off the best Hillcroft players. Despite a few lengthy periods of Hitchin defence, Hillcroft couldn't find the net and Hitchin ended the quarter with another 4 goals. Three-quarter score 3 - 12. In the final quarter Hillcroft started putting on some of their more inexperienced players and despite a consolation goal, Hitchin scored another 4, making the final score 4 - 16 to Hitchin.
