Final Score: East Coast 11 - 10 Hitchin 'A'

Hitchin 'A' made the long trip to Norwich for this weeks 2nd round of the Flags against East Coast.

The match set off at a fast pace with East Coast being the first to score and Hitchin 'A' equalising moments later. Both teams continued to play end to end lacrosse and traded goals throughout the 1st and 2nd quarters ending in 5-5 at half time.

It was all to play for going into the 3rd quarter and both teams fought a hard, clean game. Hitchin 'A' fought a little harder and were rewarded with 2 more goals hitting the target to put them ahead. East Coast had less possession but found the back of the net with 1 goal in this quarter.

Hitchin 'A' were ahead by one goal as the final quarter started. East Coast equalised after some clean passing and good movement down the field. Hitchin 'A' regrouped to fight back and go ahead again after scoring 2 more goals. East Coast dug deep and squeezed past the strong Hitchin 'A' defence and scored 2 goals which brought the match to 9-9 at full time.

Tension was now building for both teams as they went into overtime. Again, both teams were evenly matched but East Coast were the team to break and score in the 1st half, putting them ahead by 1 goal. Hitchin 'A' kept their heads and carried on the fight in the 2nd half, when they equalised from the face off. This drew cheers of delight from Hitchin 'A' and their young supporters. Both teams continued to have equal possession, and just as it looked as though the match would go to sudden death overtime, East Caost hit the target to secure the win 30 secs before the final whistle. This was a well fought match which had every one on the 'edge of their seats'. It could have gone either way but it was East Coast who found the gap moments from the end of the match to gain a place in the Flags semi-finals.
