Final Score: Hitchin 'A' 16 - 6 East Coast Hitchin 'A' were meeting East Coast for the 3rd time this season (one league and one Flags match) and after being beaten by one goal in each match they were keen to beat them on home turf. Hitchin 'A' were a little slow to settle into the match and went 3 goals down, after a time out, Hitchin 'A' appeared to get themselves organised and pulled back 3 goals to equalise by the end of the 1st quarter. During the 2nd quarter Hitchin 'A' went on the attack scoring 4 goals. East Coast were unable to get past the strong defence of Hitchin 'A' and didn't mange to score in this quarter. At the start of the 3rd quarter Hitchin 'A' had the upper hand and went out with 'all guns firing'. Four more goals hit the back of the net to put them ahead by 7 goals at 3/4 time. East Coast had several shots at goal only to have them saved by Shakey. Hitchin 'A' won this match in style and East Coast realised that their hopes of winning the East 2 league had just ended as the final whistle blew. In the 4th quarter Hitchin 'A' picked up the pace and scored quickly from the face off. They went onto win 80% of the face offs and scored 5 more goals. East Coast put up a good fight but found it hard to get past the Hitchin 'A' defence, who displayed some billiant teamwork this week, and Shakey saved most of their on target shots. However, East Coast did manage to slip past and score 2 goals of their own in this quarter. This was a good clean match, despite the mud, with very few penalties being served. Hitchin 'A' were well organisd this week with a strong defence and some sharp goalkeeping. There was also the added bonus of two referees on the field this week, thanks go to Eamon for helping out. East Coast looked very smart in their new pink kit and I hope the mud washes out. A late report in, says that several spectators claimed they saw Ray Harry chasing a loose ball but these sightings are still unconfirmed.
