Oxford started off at a quick pace this week with two goals in quick succession, making Hitchin 'A' look like 'freshers'. Hitchin 'A' then got it together, settled down and started to play lacrosse. They had some good turn overs and fast breaks but were unable to find the back of the net! Oxford fought hard to get past the Hitchin defence and scored two more goals. Hitchin were able to reply with one of their own just before quarter time. The 2nd quarter saw some scrappy play from both teams, with Hitchin 'A' scoring 2 goals and Oxford scoring 3. Half time score was Hitchin 'A' 3 - 7 Oxford. Hitchin suffered from their usual 3rd quarter fade, which allowed Oxford to score 5 goals. Again play was scrappy from both sides with ground balls staying on the floor for too long and fast breaks that went no-where. Hitchin 'A' re-grouped in the 4th quarter took a little more control, went on the attack and scored their 2 goals early on. Despite the onslaught of attack by Hitchin, Oxford still managed to get down the field and past Hitchins' defence to score another 2 goals. With only 10mins remaining in the match a Hitchin player took a late hit and went down hard. Unfortunately this resulted in an ambulance being called and the match coming to an early end. Final score: Hitchin 'A' 3 - 14 Oxford The injured Hitchin player was despatched to hospital where it was discovered that he had a broken collar bone. The break is clean, but it means that he will now be out until after christmas. We all wish Jon a speedy recovery.
