Final Score: Blackheath Storm 5 - 7 Sprites Sprites Win Their First League Match Hitchin ladies fielded a strong team on Sunday 24th September for their first league match, away to Blackheath Storm. Blackheath started well and scored the first goal not long after the start whistle. Sprites were quick to reply with a goal shortly after. Both teams were well matched but Blackheath managed to slip past the Sprites strong defence and score three more goals and the Sprites scored one. Making it: Blackheath 4 Sprites 2 at half time. During the second half Sprites pulled out all the stops and dominated the play with fast breaks and strong attacking, bringing the score to 4 - 4 with just 10 mins of play left. Sprites kept the pressure on with constant cutting and shooting with several more goals being scored. Blackheath were unable to get past a strong defence although they found a small gap in the final moments of the game. Final score: Blackheath 5 Sprites 7 |
