Final Score: West London 13 - 7 Hitchin Sprites Hitchin Sprites didn't travel well this week when they played West London, they only managed a full team plus one sub. West London had a full team plus the advantage of six subs. As the whistle went Sprites received a sharp wake up call as West London steam rollered in and scored 3 goals in the first 10 mins of the game. Hitchin defence pulled out all the stops and kept West london out as the Spirtes fought back with 3 goals of their own and then a 4th to go ahead. West London then managed to equalise 4 - 4 just before half time, which had the Hitchin spectators cheering on the sidelines! Sprites had everything to fight for in the 2nd half. They went ahead after scoring 2 more goals early on. West London pulled one back, then Sprites scored another to go ahead again. It was now 7 - 5 to the Sprites and end to end lacrosse. A Sprites player then received an injury which left them, temporarily, without a sub. After treatment Samantha was able to rejoin the game in true team spirit. West London clawed back two more goals as they slipped past a strong Sprites defence to equalise 7 - 7. West London were forced to fight harder as the Sprites held their own until the final 10 mins of the game. With constant fast breaks and frequent substitutions, West London overwhelmed and broke down the tired Sprites defence, eventually scoring 6 more goals and taking the win. It was a hard fought game with some questionable umpiring, but the final score doesn't reflect the great teamwork displayed by the Sprites this week.
