Away: Putney II v Sprites

Hitchin Sprites took full advantage this week when Putney were four players down for the first 15 mins. As expected Sprites were on the attack from the off. Goals came thick and fast from the Sprites. Putneys' missing players arrived just before half time, they managed to compose themselves long enough to bag 3 goals of their own before the whistle went.

Sprites' defence had to work a little harder in the second half as Putney re-grouped and went on the attack. Both teams fought hard and traded goals throughout the last 15 mins, with Sprites staying ahead by two goals for most of it. As the clock ticked down Putney scored again, to trail by one goal, Sprites then came back with another to go two ahead again. with only 1 min left in the match Sprites shut out Putneys' last ditch attempt, bringing the final score to: Putney II 11 - 13 Sprites

Despite having several key players missing this week, Sprites put on a great display of team work, stick skills and determination. Their training regime has given them a new confidence and I predict that they will do well this season.

Thanks to Alison and Sandra for stepping into goal this week to cover for Gill...........although they are still arguing over who was better, so I shall let you, the reader decide for yourself!!!
